We don’t know where to start with this one…
Ok, remember the FRANK FRAZETTA X FRANK KOZIK: LABBIT THE BARBARIAN revealed by us HERE? We even did a review on it HERE.
In case your not familiar with the toy in question here it is;
The idea was taking a classic piece of artwork by Frank Frazetta and giving it the Designer Toy treatment. For many of us it worked, as the Labbit stood tall like a true barbarian on top of his spoils of war. Almost a naif rendition of one of the most brutal character in comic books, Conan the Barbarian. Kozik definitely captured the essence of this Frazetta painting in the sculpting.
Well, sir JPK noticed it to and thought to himself that the statue needed a personal touch since he is a big fan of that figure and Frank Frazetta’s artwork.
But the naif representation was not enough for him, he wanted the custom to “reflect the gloomy, mean nature of the original painting, so this includes some areas of tonal colour to reflect those elements in his paintwork”.
Landies and gentleman, there are custom and there are CUSTOMS! Here is Labbit the Barbarian by Kozik and Kidrobot customized by master Jon-Paul Kaiser;
This is truly a work of a master artist. The tones, colors and textures are out of this world. Whereas before we saw a Labbit and a Dunny, now we see Conan himself with the fierce look of a barbarian warrior, a complete transformation.
Jon-Paul Kaiser proves once again that he is one of the best in game to say the least. We can stress enough how valuable his work has become.
This piece will be available to view and purchase on his booth at Northern Craft this weekend in Leeds.
A true barbarian custom!
