Not seen Mei-Jean aka MJ Hsu art for a while and missed it like we have? Well, this weekend you will get to see and hopefully lucky enough to own MJ’s custom Luna’s. MJ has customised and blessed the famously unhappy Luna by The Bots & Urban Vinyl Daily into 5 different Luna’s all tantalizing sweet, MJ adds a little bonus if you have a black light with each of the 5 customs. Prepare to be mesmerised by Luna.
I have been dying to customize another one of these wonderful toys. So when Urban Vinyl Daily gave me an opportunity to work on FIVE for a special release, of course, I had to say yes! I am a huge fan of Luna and her creators, The Bots, so I was humbled (and excited!) that I was asked to create this series. As with my piece for the group show, these new customs were inspired by how magical nature can appear. I took inspiration from elements that I personally find beauty in the natural world: freshly bloomed flowers, bio-luminescent jellyfish, sparkling fish, icicles in the wintertime, and the darkness of night. To make them seem more magical, I painted each one with metallic and iridescent paints, and they all glow in the dark! – MJ Hsu
