Here’s RX Seven about “King of Hearts” and his journey.
Here is my Latest custom titled “King of Hearts”. This creation was conceived whilst in Philadelphia at The Mothership Gallery, a week before the Inaugural 5Points festival in New York. That meant I had to get supplies and find the right tools to make this one of a kind 20” Dunny in time for the convention. Not to mention the jet lag and exhaustion of Convention hopping prior (Thailand toy Expo and ToyCon UK ) This project happened like most things in my life do…synchronized by the cosmos. I had no intentions in taking on a huge project with so little time, but things were said imaginations ran wild and I tackled this this creation with a lot of ambition and no time.
While artist were teasing info and companies promoting for the weekend, I found my self in the basement of the gallery working hard like an elf at Santa’s toy shop the night before Christmas. It took 4 days to complete this massive piece and I stayed at the gallery and experienced night life in Philly while doing so. One thing that should stand out about this piece should be the scythe, its a part of Philly and most importantly its a part of the gallery. While putting on last minute touches I decided I wanted to make something that would tie this custom to the store. Next thing you know Im outside with a handsaw picking the right branch for my piece.
As far a selling my creation I thought it would be fitting to hold a month long raffle so people can see it and appreciate the thought and struggle behind the piece. I feel this way people with small budgets have a chance at owning my favorite custom up to date.
This Raffle is also a special one because of the date 7.7.17, This date is when ill be announcing the winner of the custom and opening the doors to my new Art gallery/studio “7oz Gallery” In Tacoma,WA in conjunction with “Beware Coffee”. It will be a soft opening with food and beer. An official grand opening show will announced later this year. The story behind the name is an easy one, for those of you who don’t know the number 7 is a spiritual number for me for various reasons. I chose 7oz to acknowledge all the hard work it took to get where I am today- seven ounces of tears blood and sweat. The logo is a culmination of all those things.
Congratulations to RX with 7oz Gallery! All the best from The Toy Chronicle.
