You may be aware, by the number of Facebook statuses, that today is a special ol’ day in the Star Wars calendar as today is May the Fourth. You see how folks have taken the iconic quote from Episode IV A New Hope – May the Force be with you and given it a lil spin due to the date, and now we have May the Fourth be with you! It’s clever. It’s a marketing dream.
Star Wars is synonymous with Designer Toys. Probably the most adapted franchise when it comes to customs and special takes on the vast Star Wars universe & characters. There have been some absolute belters released over the years that have taken the Star Wars theme and created something truly wonderful. We wanted to share some of our favourites with you from over the years.
GeekWok by UME Toys
Up first is probably the cutest take on any Star Wars character, with UME Toys taking on the Ewoks with his GeekWok release from way back in 2013. Award winning too, taking down the Designer Toy Awards Best Resin release in 2014. Artist: UME Toys on Instagram HERE.
Heavy Metal Wookie by Lisa Rae Hansen
A release that definitely caught our imagination for our love of all thing hairy + heavy metal, the Heavy Metal Wookie by Lisa Rae Hansen take on Chewie! We need more Heavy Metal Wookie in our lives! Artist: Lisa Rae Hansen on Instagram HERE.
Start Wars ‘Long Suffering Trooper’ Crucifixion by RYCA
See, we told you that there have been some absolute belters when it comes to taking the Star Wars universe and adding your own spin on things. RYCA did that with his recreation of his Start Wars ‘Long Suffering Trooper’ crucifixion from 2009/10. Featuring the Storm Trooper crucified. Artist: RYCA on Instagram HERE.
Street Wars Jacket Series by Oh Anat of Kidding Toy
Adding a little hip hop & street style to the Star Wars universe with the Street Wars Jacket Series by Oh Anat of Kidding Toy. You saying you don’t need Darth Vader in a XXL puffer jacket? You’re wrong. We all need it. Some are still available too on DKE Toys HERE if you missed out. Artist: Oh Anat of Kidding Toy on Instagram HERE.
DarthTerra (Keep the Faith) by FLABSLAB
FLABSLAB are possible the kings when it comes to combining the worlds of Star Worlds with the world of Designer Toys. We could have brought many to the table, but this one in particular is great. The DarthTerra (Keep the Faith). Almost 10inches of Darth sculpted so elegantly. Love it. You can still grab them HERE too. Artist: FLABSLAB on Instagram HERE.
Dark Side Samurai by 2petalrose
Have you turned to the dark side yet? The Dark Side Samurai Stormtrooper has. This original piece of art by 2petalrose drew us into that dark side. Stunning craftsmanship on this one-of-one gallery piece. Artist: 2petalrose on Instagram HERE.
TIE DUNNY II By Jan Calleja
An incredible custom Kidrobot 8inch Dunny is up next. Jan Calleja delights us with this custom TIE DUNNY figure. So much precision & detail with this one. You can check out more details on our post from three years ago HERE.
Bobett by Wetworks
Wetworks has often drawn influence from the Star Wars universe, but one of our favourite releases was Bobett. Originally released at STGCC 2016, a select few were made available online after the convention. Needless to say, they SOLD OUT! Cute resin take on Boba, and the lil Slave 1 is a nice touch. Artist: Wetworks on Instagram HERE.
Custom Star Wars Marshall Set by 64colors
Another blast from the past is this amazingly detailed custom Star Wars Marshall Set by 64colors. Each wonderfully take on the Storm Trooper, Ewok, Darth Vader, Chewie and Boba Fett. The Marshall platform was perfect for these, don’t you think?! Artist: 64colors on Instagram HERE.
Under the Robe by Alex Solis
And finally, we leave you with this absolute beaut by Alex Solis. Alex’s Under the Robe featured a buff Yoda as he unveils what is indeed under his robe. Needless to say, we were not disappointed. Artist: Alex Solis on Instagram HERE.
