‘A Gibblegump Nest’ part of the Okemordyn© range is a one of a kind exhibition piece. Taylored Curiosities have combined nature, needle felting, sculpting, casting, painting and imagination to create a real mixed texture piece.
The mother Gibblegump and all three different sized babies are removable. The babies sit inside their nest pods and the mother is resting on a leafy bed. You’ll notice this Gibblegump is sitting rather than standing like her previous release. Pretty neat idea what you can remove the little babies.
This piece measures 4.5″ by 4.5″.
This is Taylored Curiosities finished piece for the ‘Around the World in 80 Toys’ exhibition in February/March 2014 (part of the Adelaide Fringe Festival, the biggest arts festival in the Southern Hemisphere) at the Espionage Gallery, Adelaide Suite 1, Level 2, 93 Rundle Mall, Adelaide, SA, 5000 Espionage-Gallery Adelaide.
‘It’ll be a monster of an event, with the exhibition, a 3 week Toy festival with Toy Workshops, a ‘one-night Toy challenge’ for local artists and other creative’s visiting for the Fringe. There’ll be other events and promotions, all to help raise awareness of the Designer Toy Scene in Australia, as well as promoting all local, national & international artists involved.’ Nic Bic Curator
There will be some pieces similar to this, but smaller and each individual, at ToyCon UK 2014 in April along with the full blind box series of all four Okemordyn© creatures. I’m not a plush collector but I defiantly will be heading over to Taylored Curiosities booth at ToyCon UK and pick up my first Taylored Curiosities blind box series.
Good luck with the show.
