Co-organized with Devil Robots, ArtJunkie and Kamakir, is the CERRITO “LaTen” Latin Psychedelia group exhibition in Tokyo! Using César Zanardi’s infamous sofubi CERRITO figure as a platform for artist to put their spin on CERRITO.
CERRITO, a South American Yokai, appeared as a dream to each artist in an “altered state of mind” and takes them to a mystical trip to Latin America. After “waking up from the ride” each artist will draw the experience in the “parallel Latin America” through the psychedelic journey with CERRITO.
That revealing trip and turned into “Apostles of Cerrito” each artist will generate images according to what they saw in “the Cerritean Dream”.
「ラ展」IMAGINARY ART TRIP THROUGH LATINAMERICA
LThe Exhibition focuses on the union of concepts “Character Design + Latin America”. ラ展 (pronounced “LaTen”).
The artists will express their vision of that concept through the silhouette of CERRITO, a character that represents “the Essence of Latinity” and that on this occasion is presented as a link between Japanese characters and Latin culture.
