When Superplastic called last week to discuss their latest secret drop, we knew something serious was about to go down. Did we expect them to tell us about a new collaboration between Superplastic x Gorillaz? Well, no. But also, yes. It kinda makes sense to see Paul Budnitz’ Superplastic join forces once again with the British virtual band, Gorillaz. The world of Janky and Guggimon feels like they could well live within the realms of the Gorillaz. It’s not too much of a stretch that they live within the same universe, right? Who else has perfectly imagined Murdoc and Guggimon into all kinds of mischief together? How about Janky and Noodle living the good life together? It has been over 10 years since Kidrobot released their Gorillaz line-up, now Budnitz continues the Gorillaz series with a new Superplastic launch of Gorillaz vocalist & keyboardist – Stuart ‘2D’ Pot!
Based on artist Jamie Hewlett’s iconic 2D character, this new 12inch art figure features two-tone shoes, fat mic, and battery-powered glowing LED eyes. Yup, GLOWING LED EYES. Batteries included! 2D is priced at $80 (about £63) and is guaranteed to be delivered for Christmas. You can purchase from the Superplastic online store HERE. Whilst we don’t know the run size of 2D, we are led to believe this is a limited run.
I was out window shopping for the holiday season or something like that, and in one window I saw my reflection. But I looked so much smaller. And it looked like I was singing.

Will we see the rest of the Gorillaz krew – Murdoc, Russel and Noodle – join 2D in the Superplastic family in due course? Well, we sure as hell hope so.
