Sorry, not so sorry we published a little too early so much so we had to push it back so superplastic could sort out their nickers, HA. Now we can concentrate on the celebration! Yus, boiiiii! The band are here! The WHOOOOLLLLEEEE damn band are here! Teased over the last week, Gorillaz is once again teaming up with Superplastic to bring us some new ultra-luxe limited edition designer toys. Previously, last year, we saw Superplastic work with Gorillaz to bring the 2D figure to life (read HERE) but this is 2020 and we need something FULL & WHOLESOME! That’s why the whole GORILLAZ band are coming in vinyl form! Are you ready?! We are! Check them bad boys below…
How good do 2D, Noodle, Russel & Murdoc look?! Based on the artwork of the latest Gorillaz album, Song Machine, which dropped last month, these figures are sized at between 9inches and 12inches. With 2D and Noodle expected to ship in December, and Russel & Murdoc due in February 2021. These are now available to purchase on the Superplastic website HERE.
After more than 15 years creating vinyl toys with the Gorillaz, I’m super excited to be releasing the first full set of Gorillaz toys in 10 years. As the world’s premiere boutique creator of art toys, Superplastic only works with a handful of the world’s top artists. Jamie Hewlett is a genius and his twisted universe is a massive inspiration for me, Janky and Guggimon, and everyone at Superplastic
Paul Budnitz, Superplastic, November 2020
Gorillaz bassist and self-proclaimed leader Murdoc Niccals said: “As someone who’s had dozens of statues made of himself, it takes a lot to impress me, but the workmanship on this figurine is really top notch. The perfect centrepiece for your Gorillaz shrine or shelf.”
All orders, through Superplastic, can be bundled to include a ticket to Song Machine Live, a one-off fully live Gorillaz concert created to watch from the comfort of your home and available to stream worldwide on LIVENow. A full show production featuring the Gorillaz live band led by Damon Albarn, blending exciting real time live performance and Jamie Hewlett animation plus appearances from very special guest artists too. With three separate live performances, anything can happen and no matter where you are in the world, there’s a show start-time to suit you.
