Joumon Kugutu Enzi Edition By Takayuki Takeya x 1000Toys Review UNBOXING

Seeing Joumon Kugutu “Enzi” Edition in prototype stages at Dcon 2015 and ToyCon UK 2016 we didn’t expect how awesome Joumon Kugutu 1/6 scale turned out. Some of you may know that producer 1000toys who’s part of the Sen-ti-nel group, who brought you guys the from the ‘TOA Heavy Industries’ series much sort after “Synthetic Human” who’s known for their high-quality production and finishing. We expect the same quality from Joumon Kugutu Enzi Edition. Takayuki Takeya “Joumon Kugutu” turn to shine and take your soul. Totally different story line compared to the Synthetic Human but we expect the frame and articulation to be well thought out and executed. Time for Unboxing time and see if Joumon Kugutu lives up to our expectations.

A 1/6 series based on artworks by the renowned sculptor, Takayuki Takeya. ‘1/6 JOMON KUGUTU’ reflects the artistic culture from Japan’s ancient Jomon period, released in 2016 Toysoul 2016 and Wonder Festival 2017 (Exhibition)

Right out of the box, fresh as daisies. Box seems a little thinner than the counterparts, seriously I put the box away anyway so I’m not fussed.

Heavier than expected, which is a good thing and that smell of fresh plastic…. Hmm addictive. Protection foam and thank god nothing broken via transit.

Talk about accessories, wow various alternative changeable hands as well as pegs for that globe thing.  At a glance the pegs don’t look as strong compared to the older 1st gen “Synthetic Human” They look slightly thinner so I must remember to take extra care when swapping parts. The instruction manual is important as this bad boy can light up! Yup no bullshit, ill get to that later on.

The paint work looks freaking top notch for sure and complements the insane design and sculpt from Takayuki Takeya. Did I expect any less? Hell no. 1000toys really did a great job transferring the illustration to a 1/6th scale figure.

Because of all the intricate sculpt and armour, articulation is not at flexible or movable as the “Synthetic Human” which is understandable. Take your time playing around with the joints on the shoulder to get the poses you want for sure.

The back as good as the front of the figure and might be a little top heavy due to the amount of armour. As you can see below the jaw is movable BUT you have to take the front plate off in order to flex the jaw and mouth ( much thinner plastic so be careful)

Enough flexibility with 4 sections from chest to hip. I would warn not to bend too much as right out of the box it’s stiff which should last a longer for future longevity.

I see a similar foot articulation as the Synthetic Human so finer poseing is possible with the Joumon Kugutu, as the heal and twin section helps.

The joints on the knee seem nice a stiff so I will hold the test of time, but with when posing you’ll have to think about the section that’s pointing out in unique poses.

Obviously not as flexible with all that armour and sculpt. Just enough to pose in standard poses. As you can see below, the right leg is at its full spread, ( sorry about the funny pose, Ha semi-jumping stars rock)

As for the shoulder/arm joints, they are pretty solid, in order to get some rotation and poses, you’ll have to slightly lift up the shoulder pad. Love the fact the design hides the join so nothing is exposed.

Now if you wanted to move the mouth then it’s a little bit more fiddly. You have to tilt the neck a tad forward in order to open the mouth fully.

Setting up the globe/ sphere is straight forward. Two pegs to choose from with the correct hands.

Here comes the icing on the cake! Joumon Kugutu eyes light UP! You’ll have to be careful as the switch is tiny for obvious reasons (HOW 2 guide in the video)

I personally prefer the visor off, but hell it looks cool with the lights on. Two different looks with or without the visor.
