Since getting back from DesignerCon earlier this month I think it is fair to say that I’ve been on a downer. A designer toy down, that I needed a pick-me-up! So, with Christmas fast approaching, I decided to take a deeper look at the recent Kidrobot release by Scott Tolleson x Seriously Silly K. Krampus! I got my hands on the KR.com colour variant of Krampus, super colourful version! There is a more subdued ‘black’ colourway available too of Krampus, but I think I prefer the colourful variant. Super nice sculpt. Paintwork is really nice too. I tried to take advantage of new camera on the iPhone X to take some great pics of Krampus, I think they came out great. What do you think?
In folklore, Krampus is a horned, anthropomorphic figure described as “half-goat, half-demon”, who during the Christmas season, punishes children who have misbehaved, in contrast with Saint Nicholas, who rewards the well-behaved with gifts. We think Scott & Seriously Silly K have captured the essence of Krampus in this Kidrobot release. Krampus comes with a number of accessories – chain, small child Dunny and a small bunch of branches (which we assume are to punish the young children that have misbehaved).
Both colourways of Krampus are available to purchase directly from Kidrobot HERE. The blue (pictured in this review) is a KR.com exclusive and is limited to only 200 pieces. The Black colourway (limited to 800 worldwide) can be also purchased at all great Designer Toy stores such as Tenacious Toys, Collect & Display, Mindzai, myplasticheart and Martian Toys. The original Krampus by Tolleson & Silly K was a finalist in the 2017 Designer Toy Awards this past May at Five Points Festival. Kidrobot, along with Scott & Seriously Silly K has done a great job transforming the custom Dunny into the production 5inch Dunny. You can see the original Krampus below.
