Last year a buddy of TTC Tanavit23 sent us a photo of some amazing artwork from Thailand artist Recycle C. Ever since we saw photo we have been mesmerised by the dark sinister and warrior looks. So you might be thinking why on earth just blog it now? well its been a struggle using Google translator and getting the correct information to pass it on to you guys. With the help from Tanavit23 our job is complete, sit back and look at Recycle C amazing Ruk Yom “Love Oneself”.
Mr. YOM
This year Recycle C showcased his work at Thailand Toy Expo and of course a huge success, definitely an eye catcher. His characters are certainly something that you can connect with, the god like figure but certainly creepy but we love it. The Characters are based on a supernatural Thai culture which makes us love them even more, as they have a story behind them. The standard of work is on a next level, including the packaging!

Ruk yom, direct translated it means “Love oneself” one piece is called Ruk, the other Yom, Ruk is love, Yom is like when a monk calls anyone, When a monk greets you, he will call u yom, It’s a Thai thing.

I think what really appeals to us, is the fact nothing quite like this right now, well not on this level that is. So the sad news is the limited edition is pretty much sold out and takes him many months of preparation for a small release, which is understandable. We think that their might be a couple of Regular sets available. If you are looking for one then best to drop him a message (contacts below)
We cannot wait to 2016- 2017 for Recycle C sofubi project!

Your review is great but there is a litte misunderstanding in translation of the name. In Thai, Ruk-Yom is pair of spiritual amulet that believes to make one who carry it to be adored and favorited by the people he/she contact with in order to getting supports from them of which that is the exact meaning and purpose of “Ruk-Yom”.
Ruk (รัก) generally means Love but in this case it way more make sense to translate for Adore. The single word Yom (ยม – shoter sound) literally has no meaning and it is also not that Yom (โยม – longer sound) of that monk calling themself but it is reductive form of the word NiYom (นิยม) which means Favour. Thus the words Ruk ‘n Yom go together as Ruk-Yom means “(to be) Adorable & Favorite” as such.
Thank you, thats what we get when we use google translator
