DesignerCon! What a weekend! Our Thoughts!

Yesterday as we sat in LAX, with a cold beer, waiting for our flights back to London, it was a great time to look back on what was an absolutely great weekend at DesignerCon. Arriving on Thursday in to sunny Pasadena, our hopes were obviously high from all the discussion from previous attendees of DCon. Expectations were high, and no doubt they delivered. Wondering around the Pasadena area we were impressed with the pretty great set-up of bars, restaurants etc in the area. Friday was spent enjoying the sunshine at Universal Studios in Hollywood with Collect & Display.

Saturday saw the first day of DesignerCon and we were impressed with the magnitude of booths available and attendees. There was definitely aspects that we saw, that can be very beneficial to our plans for ToyConUK 2016. So many ideas floating around our heads. As well as the set-ups etc, it was great to see so many awesome artists and friends in one place. There were so many highlights, one being meeting Kyle Kirwan at his booth. We have been following Kyle’s journey to DesignerCon with his wife in their RV. Kyle has his Children of the Halfcast custom show available for our eyes to enjoy. We’ve took a couple of snaps below:

There were many other great pieces of art during the two days. Below we’ve snapped a couple of our favourites, from Huck Gee, Flat Bonnie and Linda Panda. Take a look through the slide show below.

Saturday evening saw The Toy Chronicle and Collect & Display attended the Coarse Toys Studio & Gallery opening. It was great to see Sven & Mark of Coarse again. Coarse had their new Permanent Guest Ignited available to purchase on the evening, as well as the opportunity to take a look at some newer pieces that should hopefully be available to purchase in the near future. Sven, Mark and Amanda Vissell was on hand to doodle & sign prints on the night. Again, we took a couple of snaps for those that didn’t get the chance to attend. Thanks Coarse for a great night.

We’ve already covered the awesome Martian Toys Space Crab Wars, which was a huge highlight for The Toy Chronicle, especially considering the Team Europe took home the winners trophy! You can read all about the Space Crab Wars HERE.

Thanks to Ayleen from Toy Break & Ben of 3D Retro for putting on a really great convention. We loved our time out there. Already putting plans in place to attend DCon again in 2016. We’ll keep you posted!
